Welcome to the late night, or late afternoon, edition of Streaking In Public. My successes of yesterday have seemingly thrown me off my timetable as this usually morning column is coming to you about half an hour before first pitch/tip off. Somebody broke open a pinata off offense in Baltimore last night as the home team O's clobbered the visiting Red Sox 18-7. I predicted a 10-8 game in yesterday's SIP but my overly cynical self believed that one or both of the duo of Adam Jones and Hanley Ramirez would be held hitless. That was not the case and I have a season high streak of 2 with the successful double down. On Drive To The Finals, DeMar DeRozan wasn't the Raptor of choice (Kyle Lowry had a 33 PRA to DeRozan's 22) but as predicted the Raptors went out to Washington making me feel better about getting his selection in.
Now that I have my double down swagger going, I am going for back to back (uh) double-ups (uh uh). Miguel Cabrera is off to his normal nearly .400 hitting self as the Tigers head to Minnesota. He squares off with left hander Tommy Milone. He's hit two of his three home runs thus far off left handed starters and owns a .385 career average versus Milone. I don't have to worry about Miggy. The wild card in my double down is Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin. I am banking more on the ineffectiveness of Mariners' starter Taijuan Walker than the performances Martin has put forth thus far in 2015. He looks to be coming around more after a shaky couple weeks and has his average up to .234 after being under the Mendoza line most of the month.
On the hardcourt, I am taking another player who I believe will be playing their last playoff game in 2015. That is Milwaukee's Michael Carter-Williams. Jerryd Bayless staved off the inevitable for the Bucks in Game Four with a tremendous buzzer beater. The Bulls are putting away Jason Kidd's squad tonight. America isn't going with me on my pick of MCW (the 0% is probably just a fraction under 0.5 rounded down) but I think the former Sixer is going down swinging in his first ever playoffs. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
