I really need to get a good run going or these columns are going to start feeling more like a chore than an outlet. Ian Desmond gave me my third consecutive day of no progress yesterday on Beat the Streak. The "experts" picked Das Boot (the nickname will never stick) as one of their picks of the day. I saw that about two hours after I had wrote yesterday's piece and knew I was screwed. At least the Drive to the Finals is somewhat keeping what little self confidence I possess afloat.
I am going with a same game double down today. Two of my previous selections, Boston's Hanley Ramirez and Baltimore's Adam Jones, square off this afternoon against less than stellar pitching. Bud Norris takes the bump for Baltimore while Wade Miley will mind the pitching duties for Boston. I fully expect an 0-fer for either guy in a 10-8 type game. You know, just to really rub salt in the wounds.
Over on Drive to the Finals, I will be selecting Toronto's DeMar DeRozan. The Raps are on the brink of being swept by a mess of a Washington team. I was torn between DeRozan or Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki as I think both Toronto and the Mavs are done today. I sided with DeRozan because he is more apt to put up 40 empty points in a loss. If Dirk does as such, I think Dallas would actually win. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
