Dimaggio's millions are safe for another season. The $5.6 million prize will survive the last week and change of the MLB season in Beat The Streak. Outside of a contest winner (if any more are scheduled) a 57 game hitting streak is unattainable by any participant. I am just hoping to get back to double digits by season's end. I am on a two streak after my NL West duo of Yasiel Puig and Justin Morneau hit twice in their respective games. Mike Trout and Victor Martinez, it is your charge to double my money. Well, at least take my streak to four. There is no actual money. Today should be a slam dunk. Detroit clobbered Kansas City yesterday and I expect more of the same against the very hittable Jeremy Guthrie today. Martinez is hitting .344 against the Royals righty lifetime. Mike Trout has similar success against Texas starter Nick Tepesch. It is only an eight at-bat sample but he has three hits including a home run. The more impressive thing about the soon to be AL MVP (in my humble opinion) is that he was able to touch Adrian Beltre's head without being murdered. Don't believe me? Behold visual evidence!
Well you see um...I'm um...I stink. My Full House burned to the ground yesterday. It started off well with Arsenal netting three goals in five minutes to dispose of Aston Villa. The Gunners easy victory had my hopes high when my favorite Premier League club, Liverpool, traveled to Upton Park for a match with a team they owned, West Ham United. Instead of continuing their ownership, they decided to have a splendid pyro party on my Streak. A 3-1 inferno sent my day into a tailspin. Instead of picking my surest thing of the day in the afternoon, Juventus, I decided to wallow in self pity over Liverpool's defeat. I was able to drag myself out of the doldrums long enough to get back in the green with the Portland Timbers. I dodged a bullet by deciding on using a Boloco coupon over picking the Sounders in the late game.
There is no cutesy theme today. Just two American football picks with no fanfare or pageantry. The Saints are going to trounce the Vikings. The Saints at home. The Vikings are reeling. Slam dunk. In the afternoon, I think the Broncos and Seahawks can combine for 21+ points in the second half of their game. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
