These columns are getting nearly as depressing to write as watching the NBA Draft Lottery as a Knicks fan. (CHEAP LINK PLUG) For the second time in three days, I ended the day with a pair of losing streaks on Beat the Streak and Streak for the Cash. To make matters worse, DeMarre Carroll only was able to produce a demoralizing 9 PRA on Drive To The Finals. Have my decision making skills eroded this precipitously in just a week? It seems so. Therefore, I am taking the choosing out of my own hands. I am giving it to the pickers of America. I am taking the most popular selections in each game today and if it works out, that'll be my strategy for the remainder of May.
The most popular picks on Beat the Streak today are Anthony Rizzo against San Diego and Prince Fielder against Boston. Rizzo has been en fuego as of late and he takes on Odrisamer Despaigne and a Padres team still trying to find their legs in the NL West. As for Fielder, he draws the assignment of the ever volatile Clay Buchholz and the Red Sox. If you ask most male Red Sox fans, they'll tell you the prime reason for the expedition of their hair loss is from watching Buchholz pitch. Prince Fielder's career resurgence continues today at Fenway.
The two most overwhelming favorites on Streak for the Cash come from other sides of the planet. In the early afternoon, Zwolle is the decided choice to garner a win or a draw against Vitesse at home in the first leg of their Dutch Eredivisie Europa Playoffs. The winner of the two leg affair will face the winner of Feyenoord/Heerenveen with the right to enter the 2015-16 Europa League third qualifying round. The other game I'll be selecting is the Tampa Bay Rays at home over the Oakland Athletics. The A's have been dreadful this year but are somehow better on the road than they are at home. That shouldn't matter as Alex Colome should handle whatever pu pu platter of a lineup the A's put forth this evening.
On Drive To The Finals, the top two user picks for tonight's Game Two are unavailable to me. I used Terrence Jones for a disappointing 10 PRA on Streaking In Public 125 and Josh Smith for an underwhelming 15 PRA on SIP 110. Therefore the bronze medalist ascends to gold medal status this evening as I take Houston's Corey Brewer. Brewer has been in double digits for PRA in the last four games. I've only been able to break double digits in two of my last four picks to fall below the 50th percentile in the game. Hopefully Brewer can recreate some of the majestic basketball him and the Houston bench mob produced against the Clippers in Game 6 in a pivotal Game 2 tonight against the Warriors. HAPPY STREAKING EVERYBODY!!
