GERMAN BUNDESLIGA
SV Werder Bremen vs Borussia Dortmund (10:30 AM ET/Fox Sports 2)
Bayern Munich dropped their first points of the season last night against Eintracht Frankfurt which means Borussia Dortmund have a chance to make up ground on the league leaders for the first time all season. They can do that at the Weserstadion today as they take on Werder Bremen. Dortmund are on quite the roll winning by a combined score of 12-2 in their two previous games this week in the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on an even bigger roll having scored 20 times in 17 games across all competitions. He may be the next big export out of Dortmund, but for now he's just an unstoppable force in the Bundesliga. While Aubameyang is flying high, Bremen's big named front man is in the injury duldrums. U.S. international Aron Johannsson is likely to miss the remainder of 2015 and possibly some of 2016 after hip surgery. He had only scored two goals for the team thus far, but when you only have ten goals as a team that is a big blow. I think Dortmund will win this one, and it will be just as nasty as their last two victories due to Werder Bremen's puzzling inability to defend at home.
PREDICTION: Borussia Dortmund 5 Werder Bremen 1
ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
Swansea City FC vs Arsenal FC (11:00 AM ET/USA Network)
Arsenal are continuing to boggle the minds of soccer fans everywhere. After dropping games against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos in the Champions League, they defeat the previously unbeaten in 2015 Bayern Munich. They went the typical Arsenal route though and followed up that glittering win with a loss to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 knocking them out of the Capital One Cup. So Arsenal should totally travel to the Liberty Stadium today and dispatch of Swansea no problem, right? Pump the brakes for a second. The Swans have won four and drawn one of their last eight meetings with the Gunners, including wins in both games last season. Swansea have been less than stellar this year, but are coming off a win against Aston Villa and Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew are chomping at the bit to continue scoring. Arsenal will be without Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, both injured against Sheffield Wednesday, but they have Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez in tremendous form so this should be a cracker of a game. I'm going to go with the home team in a shocker because frankly when it comes down to it, you can't trust Arsenal to give their fans any joy when they really need it.
PREDICTION: Swansea City 2 Arsenal 1
ITALIAN SERIE A
Juventus FC vs Torino FC (1:00 PM ET/beIN Sports)
The Turin derby is a bit subdued today because instead of Juventus ruling the roost and Torino chasing a European place, both teams are festering in the dead center of the Serie A table. It has been a disappointing season domestically for both clubs and this past week was no different. Juve were defeated 1-0 by upstarts Sassuolo. Torino gave up two points at the death against lowly Genoa. Now the two meet at the Juventus Stadium with hopes of better things. Torino (EDITOR'S NOTE: COUTINHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!) could go into the Europa League places with a two goal win. They'll need former Juve man Fabio Quagliarella to regain his scoring form as the Italian international hasn't hit the back of the net for the Bull since last month. Juventus' midfield is a MASH unit, but they'll have Alvaro Morata back up top to try to nick a goal for the home team. Even though they have given me no discernible reason to believe as much, Juventus will take the Derby Della Mole today and they'll do it with flair.
PREDICTION: Juventus 3 Torino 0
SPANISH LA LIGA
Getafe CF vs FC Barcelona (3:30 PM ET/beIN Sports)
Excuse me real quick as I clear my throat...(BENTEKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEE). Ah, that's better. This game is more a pick for neutrals than for fans of either Barcelona or Getafe. If you want some goals, find beIN Sports today wherever you are. Barca put six past the Azulones their last match and have scored 5+ three times in their last six meetings. However, there have been two draws (one nil-nil) sprinkled in two those six matches. Even though Lionel Messi is still sidelined, I don't think Neymar and Luis Suarez will allow a goalless draw today as Barca have a chance to go top if Real Madrid falter against Las Palmas earlier on. Get your popcorn ready folks, or in my case a new sixer.
PREDICTION: Barcelona 4 Getafe 0
