And this is why we can't have nice things. Or at least pick nice teams. I went 0-2 yesterday in the NBA doubleheader featuring four of the Western Conference's finest. I didn't do my due diligence and a Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan-less San Antonio Spurs took a beating at the hands of the Houston Rockets. It was a painful ride home listening to Dwight Howard dunk on or get fouled by Jeff Ayres and Aron Baynes seemingly every thirty seconds. I would have liked to think Duncan would have made a substantial difference against D12 but I can see why Gregg Popovich would sit his soon to be Hall of Fame big man for this game. A back to back road game? I should have known in advance. This is why I am working retail and Pop is making millions and winning titles. I took the over in the late game between the Trailblazers and the Mavericks. A 50-46 (in favor of Dallas) scoreline at halftime made me hopeful for the over by the middle of the fourth quarter. Instead, Dallas only managed 37 total points in the second half as Portland cruised, continually proving that last year was no fluke. Tonight I am going with four games, two against the spread and two over/unders. It was a tough pill to swallow last night but I think I'll rebound this evening now that I have my punching bag teams back. On to the picks!
