People will talk for ages about the Great 11/11 Utley O-fer. Between both the NBA and NHL yesterday, I was not able to make one correct pick. On the ice, San Jose laid an egg for the ages against Florida scoring a late consolation goal to break up the shutout. San Jose usually waits to the playoffs to play this bad so a stinker like this in the regular season gives me cause for concern. The other game featured my prized Blues against the bottom feeding Buffalo Sabres. I didn't think it was foolish to think the under was coming in for this game. They are two low scoring teams that like to play beat 'em up type hockey. Through two periods I looked a winner. The third period made me look the exact opposite. The two teams nearly broke the over in the final period alone and I was officially 0-4 on the day.
Unlike my NBA picks, I can't dig myself entirely out of the hole I've dug myself today. That is because there are only two games on this Rivalry Wednesday. The Bruins will take on the Maple Leafs in Toronto while the Kings will fire just up the freeway to Anaheim to take on the Ducks. Both games featured teams that have burned me in recent weeks (Boston and Anaheim) but the league didn't give me any outs. I am picking the Eastern Conference game with the over/under and the Western Conference game against the spread. And hey, I went an entire article without mentioning the .500 mark! FUCK! I knew I couldn't make it. On to the picks!
